It is located in the hills, with the northeast high and the southwest low. The average altitude is 520 meters, and the highest is 942.9 meters. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Lili Liujia of Jiangbei Hall. In the 24th year of Qianlong's reign, it was built as a town. Because there is a steep rock wall in the north of the town, it is named Pianyan Town. In August 2005, it merged with Jindaoxia Town to form Jindaoxia Town. Pianyan Ancient Town is built by the mountains and rivers. The wooden houses and brick houses are distributed along the mountains, overlapping and staggered. A winding Heishuitan River tightly embraces the ancient town. The slowly flowing river water is clear and the tall and thick banyan trees on the river bank are sparse and dense. These century-old trees, with intertwined roots and lush branches and leaves, are like huge umbrellas covering the sky and the sun, shading the small houses built by the water. From the middle of the ancient town, a bluestone bridge spans the river to connect to the outside of the town. The bridge is used as the boundary, and the main street is divided into upper and lower streets. Upper street is a traffic hub, with many shops, and its north end is a gathering place for the public.
