Although the Cherry blossom tree, Sakura, is long associated with Japan, it was actually a few Japanese researchers who showed they originated in the Himalayas, before spreading into what was still an unpopulated Japan. It is equally as important, and for as long, in China, and now Europe and North America, for their beauty and fragrant smells.
