Description

Built between 1840 and 1860, builder and exact date of construction unknown, the combined Howe truss and Burr arch construction system was very sophisticated for its time and is a precursor to iron bridge and steel bridge technology. The iron tie rods were probably original and would have allowed construction to be completed rapidly with green lumber.
