Ortigia, Syracuse, Sicily, Italy. May 13, 2024. The interior wall of the ancient Temple of Apollo on Ortigia Island in Syracuse, Sicily. The temple was built in the sixth century BC by the Greeks in honor of the god Apollo. It later was used as a Byzantine church, Arab mosque and Christian church by the Normans. The interior wall and window were added during a renovation in the Norman period.
