Description
Hexagram is an ancient symbol that existed in different cultures. Apparently, in India it appeared earlier than in the Middle East (where it appeared in the cult of Astarte) and in Europe. In this period, the hexagram was not a Jewish symbol and had no connection with Judaism. Since the Bronze Age (the end of the fourth - beginning of the first millennium BC), the hexagram, as well as the pentagram, was widely used for decorative and magical purposes in many peoples, so remote from each other territorially, such as, for example, the Semites of Mesopotamia and the Celts of Britain. On the Iberian Peninsula, images of the hexagram were found dating back to the Iron Age before the Romans arrived. It appears in illustrations of medieval books on alchemy, magic and sorcery.
