Its source is in the Corbières in Aude.Its course, 84 km long, crosses the tormented borders where the Languedoc plain and the Pyrenees massif meet, to flow into the wine-growing plain. The Orbieu is a fairly irregular river and subject to major mood swings. Its name comes from the term Or bieu which means Blue Gold. A significant name given the living conditions where water in the Corbi res is a very rare and very precious resource.
