We tend to think of barbecuing as a fairly modern cooking technique, whereas modern science has shown it to actually be probably the oldest cooking technique. Once early man conquered fire, and was able to apply it to their foods to make cooking and eating the foods more enjoyable, this technique slowly spread, then forgotten about. It was finally after the Second World War and the spread of suburbs that people rediscovered the enjoyment of outdoor cooking, and eating. This then also required a new piece of outdoor furniture, for the whole family to enjoy it all together. The wooden, outside barbecue table was born. As enjoyed 28 September 2024.
