The Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) is one of three species of orangutan. The species Latin name is given in honor of the British physician and naturalist Clark Abel (1789-1826). It is found only on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, mainly on the northern part of the island. Lifestyle: solitary animal, only females with cubs gather in small groups. The main part of life is spent on trees, moving in the dense crown with the help of long arms, tenacious fingers. They move on the ground on four limbs.
