Kolkata, West Bengal, India 12.28.2010. The famous Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu Navaratna temple in Dakshineswar, North Twenty Four Parganas, West Bengal. The temple was built in the year 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a Zamindar, philanthropist and a devotee of Hindu Goddess Kali.This temple is aquired 20 acres of land. Mata Bhavatarini is the name of the goddess Mata Kali, established in this temple. Ramakrishna Paramahansa arrived in this temple in 1855 AD. He became a priest here. Ramakrishna Paramhansa was responsible for bringing much in the way of both fame and pilgrims to the temple. His wife, Sarada Devi, stayed in the south side of the Nahabat (music room) in a small room on the ground floor, which is now a shrine dedicated to her.
