Description
The tiger is one of the largest land predators, second only to the polar and brown bears in terms of mass. Two modern subspecies of the tiger have been identified, including nine populations, of which only six had survived by the beginning of the 21st century. The total number is about 4000-6500 individuals. The largest population is the Bengal tiger, which makes up about 40% of the entire tiger population.
