the memorial: the battle of Britain. #340216061
Description
The central image was carved by Harry Gray of the Carving Workshop in Cambridge. He later revealed that after being asked by the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust to create the centerpiece of the site, he came up with the idea of ??a pilot. The figure is wearing an Irvin jacket for a very important reason By concealing the airman's uniform, it conceals both his nationality and his rank. Is this a British officer with half a dozen murders to his name or a non-commissioned officer gunner from another country? Both played their roles and the Memorial reflects that fact. The red wreath lies in front of the statue, so that we do not forget them.
