Weng's former residence is a five entry mansion, with the main building called "Caiyi Hall". It is a nationally protected cultural relic and has been well preserved through the passage of time. There are many talented scholars and beautiful women in Jiangnan, and there are also many former residences of literati. However, Weng Tonghe is extraordinary - in the sixth year of the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1856), he became the top scholar, a teacher of the two emperors Tongzhi and Guangxu, and served as the Minister of Military Affairs, Minister of Revenue, and Assistant Grand Secretary. Due to his advocacy and support for reform and innovation, he was known as the "first mentor of China's reform" by Kang You.
