Description
The Western Taipan - Oxyuranus microlepidotus - has a total length of 2 metres (6.6 feet) and is a quiet natured snake normally very reluctant to bite. The most toxic venom of all land snakes yet is not recorded as causing a single human fatality. Shelters in deep cracks in the ground and in burrows of the long haired rat. Feeds almost entirely on rats helping farmers by keeping numbers down.
