Title
View of the 18th century Puerta de Alcala in the city of Madrid. Spain. #345662617
Description
Designed by Francesco Sabatini, this is a neoclassical granite triumphal arch, the first to be built in Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire, and the precursor to other well-known arches such as the Arc de Triomphe in Paris or the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Unlike the Puerta de Toledo or the Puerta de San Vicente, it has five openings instead of the usual three.
