Description
A mosaic showing the life and ministry of Saint Louise de Marillac, French founder of the Daughters of Charity order of Catholic nuns. She is the patroness of Christian social workers. The mosaic shows the saint holding a baby, alongside an old woman, a little girl at a school desk, and a doctor holding up a sick patient. Below the mosaic is an arch with the inscription: Your cloister will be the wards of the hospitals, your enclosure obedience and your grille fear of God. Taken in the St. Louise de Marillac Chapel in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, D.C., United States.
