Description
Earleaf acacia (Acacia auriculiformis), also known as earpod wattle, is a fast-growing evergreen tree in the family Fabaceae. Native to Australia, Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Its trunk is crooked and the bark vertically fissured. Foliage is dense with an open, spreading crown. Leaves are thick, leathery and curved. Flowers are long and in pairs, creamy yellow and sweet scented. Dark brown colored pods are flat, cartilaginous, glaucous, transversely veined with undulate margins. They are initially straight but on maturity become twisted with irregular spirals.
