Lepsa Monastery #350392160
Description
Lepsa Monastery was founded in 1774, when a disciple of Saint Basil of Poiana Marului built a hermitage at the foot of the Vrancea Mountains, near the town of Tulnici. The monastic settlement on the banks of the Putna River was founded at the initiative of the Russian monk Kipsa. He wanted the monastery to be so secluded that very few people could reach it, so that the monks could engage in prayer and fasting in peace.
