It was first built in the 16th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1279 AD) and rebuilt in the first year of the Ming Dynasty (1457 AD). The White Pagoda in the temple is the earliest and largest Tibetan Buddhist pagoda in the Yuan Dynasty in China. The White Pagoda is not only a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism, but also reflects the combination of Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhist pagodas, becoming an important witness to Beijing's urban history.
