Description
The rocks of Cappadocia originate from ignimbrite deposits that erupted from ancient volcanoes approximately 9 to 3 million years ago, during the late Miocene to Pliocene epochs, underlie the Cappadocia region. Over the ages this volcanic tufa was sculpted by erosion into strange and improbable shapes: cones, needles and pyramids of stone ââ¬â some 30m high.
