Mammoth Tooth Stock Photo

This tooth was found in the profile of the Kolubara River bank, which belongs to the Sava River basin. It is known that mammoths lived during the Ice Age. The boundary of permafrost, or eternal ice, about 12,000 years ago, was along the Sava and Danube rivers. Evidence of this are the skeletal remains of mammoths—most commonly teeth and tusks. As seen in the image, the tooth is composed of vertically arranged bone parts that are interconnected. In the front part of the tooth, on the left half, a flattened surface is visible, which the mammoth used to chew and crush the plant food that was its diet. The roots of the tooth were on the opposite side, but they did not withstand the tooth of time.
