Description
Ancient buildings in Huangpu Village, Guangzhou. Huangpu Village is a natural village under the jurisdiction of Pazhou Sub - district, Haizhu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. It is a traditional Chinese village, located on Pazhou Island, north of Huangpu Channel, with a village area of 2.5 square kilometers.Huangpu Village was born out of water and thrived due to the port. It is a typical representative of the millennium - old commercial port character of Guangzhou. It is not only one of the birthplaces of China's "Maritime Silk Road" and a famous foreign trade port during the "single - port trading" period, but also a mooring place that witnesses important aspects of China's foreign exchange and trade, such as the beginning of Sino - US trade. Huangpu Village has retained a relatively complete village layout, highlighting the characteristics of a typical multi - surname clan village in the Guangfu area. In the village, there are characteristic buildings such as the "Japanese Building", the "Aunt's House", and the "Shequ Garden" used by merchants in the Qing Dynasty to receive guests. Many unique customs are also preserved, such as "dragon - dancing instead of lion - dancing", "not flipping the fish when eating", and "eating the tail first and then the head".On August 26th, 2013, Huangpu Village was announced as the second batch of traditional Chinese villages by the Ministry of Housing and Urban - Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Finance.
