Description
Traditional costume for a participant in a courir de Mardi Gras festival in the Cajun populated areas of south Louisiana. This one was specificially in Cankton, Louisiana. At the festival, participants travel by horseback, covered wagon, or trailer to nearby homes and beg for ingredients to make a gumbo. They also compete to see which of them can catch a live chicken, traditionally also to be used for the gumbo.
