Ethiopia: closeup of an Afar man (ethnic population , semi nomads, livestock pastoralists from eastern Ethiopia, border with Eritrea and Somalia, in the village Boiliata. The man is dressed in traditional dress and sandals. He holds a rifle in his hands, that is needed, especially in times of famine, to defend the Afar population and their livestock, against cattle thieves and other bandits in the border area with Somalia and Eritrea. Large parts of Ethiopia, East Africa, all year long plagued by drought [droughts, dry, dryness], water shortages, water scarcity, poor harvests, crop failures and famine. He looks without expression straight into the lens.
