The legend behind this tree is that the land was ceded to the town of Gandia, Spain, by a mayor. The town had the right to the land, so long as the tree remained in place. The tree has long died, yet the council find new, decorative ways to keep it in it's situation, and thus the surrounding metal structure in the form of modern art tree trunks adds credence to the tree's standing place.
