Germany, land, state North Rhine-Westphalia, district Wesel, Niederrhijn, Lower Rhine: in the historic city Xanten stands on the market square a statue of the Dutch Saint Norbert, Norbertus of Xanten or Gennep, the founder of the religious order or congregation of the Norbertine or Premonstratensian and former bishop, archbishop of Magdeburg. In the background the church towers of the medieval St. Victordom, a Roman Catholic former collegiate church, monastery, in 1937 by Pope Pius XI given the status of Basilica Minor. Church building, built in Gothic style. Saint Victor is a cathedral, basilica in the diocese of Munster. This church is a landmark, cultural heritage site, monument and tourist attraction.
