Description
Notre-Dame de Fourvière is a basilica in Lyon. The building looks over the town from the top of the Fourvière hill, on the site of the ancient Roman Forum of Emperor Trajan, Forum Vetus, where the name is derived Fourvière. It is the same place where the saint was martyred Pothinus. Construction began in 1872 and was completed twelve years later. The architect was Pierre Bossan. However, it would take until 1964 before the interior of the basilica would be with mosaic and glass sculptures complete. (wil)
