Orthodox Curtea de Arges Church Monastery #39690573
Description
The legend says that when this monastery was built, in the age of Radu Negru Voda, what was being built during daytime would collapse when the night came. The master mason, Manole, and his crew, decided to make a sacrifice. The morning that followed, they would build the walls of the church around the first of the wives that would come to bring them food. That happened to be Ann, Manoles wife. There is even a mark left on the wall where she was buried. Manole built himself a pair of wings, and similar to Icarus flew and crashed a few hundred meters away from the monastery, where a water spring emerged. It is also the home of one of Romanias most beloved saints, saint Filothea. It is famous for the curled towers.
