Netherlands, province Limburg, Hoensbroek village, an independent place in the municipality Heerlen. The back face, facade of Castle Hoensbroek. One of the largest water castles, in the Netherlands. This impressive moated castle is seen as a major royal castle between the rivers Rhine and Meuse. The high round tower, the Oust part, dates back from, the mid-14th century. Built by knight Herman Hoen, the first Lord of Hoensbroek. The architecture is partly Mosan Renaissance. Present proprietor, owner, is the foundation Ave Christ Rex. The castle complex is surrounded by a moat. Left the u-shaped courtyard with forecourt. The middle tower, castle tower is onion-shaped. On a sunny day two men are fishing in the moat, angling, with all their fishing tackle. On the right is a modern flat, building, high-rise construction.
