The islands of the Seychelles can be grouped into five major groups; Amir Andes, Alphonse, the Farquhar and the Aldabra Group and the granite islands. The latter - 40 in number - are the only oceanic islands, which have been formed from continental mass worldwide! All other ocean islands consist of coral or volcanic rock and have grown out of the sea!
