Piazza di Tempio in Varallo, Italy #41793837
Description
Decorated facade of the minor basilica of the Sacro Monte di Varallo, the oldest of the Italian and foreign constructions of its kind, founded in 1491 by friar Bernardino Caimi of the Ordine dei Minori Osservanti di San Francesco, at Piazza di Tempio. The Sacre Monte di Varallo has a 19th century facade including various inset paintings and with an attractive open area in front of the church that gives no clue to the ornate baroque style interior. At a square you can find a well with spoons to drink.
