Quadrule Falls, summer, Martins Fork Wildlife Management Area #41944251
Description

This summer scene was taken in the Martins Fork Wildlife Management Area in Southeastern Kentucky. It is bordered by the Cumberland Gap National Park. Quadrule falls was named after the Quadrule Indian tribe that once lived in the area. They were a splinter tribe of the Cherokee Indians. The falls are located on the Martins Fork River which is the upper watershed of the mighty Cumberland River. This river is one of Kentucky's eight designated and protected wild rivers. This remote gorge is absolutely beautiful. The river runs clear even after a big rain. There are many known summer swimming holes along its course including the pool below these falls. One lonely Mountain Laurel can be seen hanging near the falls.
