Description
This is a Wild Carrot (Daucus carota) flower before the buds have totally opened, they appear to be purple or pink in color and later on become all-white. This is a biennial plant which makes a first flower during the first year while the second year is used to produce the root. This root is purple in color while the domesticated form, our common carrot is orange, this color was bred by the dutch later on. The origin of the wild form is the mediterranean area but it could have been introduced by the arabs into Spain from Iran during their 600 year occupation of the Iberian Peninsula.
