Not only Honey Bees are significant for the pollination of our commercially important crops, this Five-spot Burnet (Zygaena trifolii) is a moth in the Zygaenidae family, it is sucking the nectar of (and at the same time pollinating) the purple flower of an Alfalfa or Lucerne Plant (Medicago sativa) which is fundamental in the composition of most ruminant animal food. Both the insect and the Alfalfa are native to western Europe.
