Scallop, by Suffolk artist Maggi Hambling #42596222
Description
A pair of interlocking metal scallop shells four metres high, a structure known simply as Scallop, by Suffolk artist Maggi Hambling, sits alone on a stretch of beach between Aldeburgh and Thorpeness. A tribute to local son Benjamin Britten, the corrugated steel is pierced with the words: I hear those voices that will not be drowned, from the composer's opera Peter Grimes.
