Vrouwenregt In Historical Town Delft, Holland Stock Image

The East End in the dutch town of Delft already existed in 1311, named Kerksloot. It is suspected that it has ever been a creek that was channeled to drain water of the Market field. At the end the name changes into Vrouwenregt, because the street was the border of the jurisdiction of the Abbess (vrouwe) of the monastery Rijnsburg. The bridge is named Bloedbrug, in english Blood Bridge. This name has to do with the red-painted sheets which the sheetpainters from the neighbourhood hung about the railings to dry.
