This beautiful fall sunset was taken from the Blue Ridge Parkway looking out over Cowee Mountain in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in North Carolina. Crepuscular rays can be seen in the sky. Isoprene released by trees and plants give these mountains their distinct blue coloring. Dramatic skies add to the beauty of the colorful foliage.
