The fountain of the Goddess Roma placed in the center of the hemicycle east, below the slopes of the Pincio exactly opposite to that of the hemicycle opposite Neptune, was completed in 1823 It takes its name from the large group of sculptures placed above the bath consists of a huge statue of the goddess Roma armed and flanked by two seated statues representing two rivers of Rome, the Tiber and Aniene. At the foot of the goddess is placed the she-wolf suckling the twins, representation that celebrates the legendary origins of the city. The impressive set was designed by the architect Giuseppe Valadier and sculpted by Giovanni Ceccarini (1790-1861). Below it there is a large semicircular tub travertine above which a shell valve always travertine collects the water poured from a small basin placed higher. The initial project involved the formation of Valadier, in the middle of the two semicircles, at ground level, also two small lakes ever made. A major renovation of the entire complex and monumental art of the square was realized in 1997-1998.
