The Old World or red-headed vulture, like its American counterpart, is a scavenging bird of prey. It is feeding on carcasses of dead animals, typically on African plains. Old World vultures are found in Europe, Africa and Asia. A particular characteristic of many vultures is a bald head, devoid of normal feathers. The picture was taken in the Detroit, Michigan, zoo.
