Wycoller village in Lancashire. Wycoller was a small village of handloom weavers whose woven cloth was taken by packhorse down into the towns of Lancashire. Until the time of the Industrial Revolution in the late 18th century it was a prosperous village with 5 bridges crossing the River Dean and a shallow ford to negotiate. The Bronte sisters loved the walk here from their home in Haworth and the ruined manor house was used in the settings for their famous books, Jane Eyre and the tenant of Wildfell Hall. It
