Fire Water Trough #45889989
Description
Fire was an ever present danger in the old west inasmuch as buildings were made of wood, built close together, and wind could be a factor. All fire departments in small western towns were volunteer, and since it took time to get the firemen together, water troughs were provided so citizens could begin to fight the fire since time was of the essence.
