Description
Ston on the Peljesac peninsula town with the longest stone wall in Europe ( 5 , 5 km ) and the second in the world after the Great Wall of China ! The walls were reinforced with 40 towers and 5 fortresses. Originally they were long 7 km or partially destroyed in an earthquake in 1667. After the Dubrovnik Republic acquired the Peljesac peninsula in 1334 , she needed the protection of the town of Ston is launched construction of fortifications.
