Barrs Bay Park - Hamilton, Bermuda - Unesco Slave Route Project #46490796
Description
This waterfront park in the city of Hamilton, Bermuda is historically significant in commemorating the landing site of the American ship Enterprise in the year 1835. 78 slaves bound for Charleston, South Carolina were given the choice to remain on the island as free men and women when the captain of the vessel was forced to agree to such terms in exchange for provisioning the stranded ship.
