Statue and fountain at Stortorget in Malmö, Sweden #46592867
Description
Stortorget is the main square of the Old City of Malmö in Sweden. From the founding of the city this square was not only a center of urban and commercial life, but also a place of execution. In its center stands an equestrian statue of King Karl X Gustav, who took Skane back from the Danes. That event in 1658 is also commemorated with a fountain that is one of the most imaginative in Scandinavia and includes a nightingale, the symbol of Malmo.
