Pisa Archbishop's Palace with the statue of Moses #48708904
Description

Archbishop's Palace is located in the Italian city of Pisa. Palace today is the result of renovations carried out at the request prelate Filip de Medici, the middle of the fifteenth century by architects and Baccio Pontelli Francioni, who created courtyard surrounded by columns of white marble. Facade, redesigned in the eighteenth century by Archbishop Carlo Antonio Dal Pozzo was again modified in neo-renaissance in the nineteenth century. Simple and solemn, it relies on the contrast between the plaster and finishing of stone walls of windows, corners, high gables and doors, flanked by two pillars of the terrace on the first floor support. The courtyard contains a statue of Moses by Andrea Vacca (XVIII century), there are also several busts of some archbishops Pisani. The building occupies an area inhabited since ancient times. Etruscan archaeological excavations have recovered artifacts. From the tenth century, became the seat of the Bishops court. Archives of Pisa Arcidiocese are kept in the archbishop's palace.
