Nafplio is a town in Greece located on the outskirts of the Peloponnese. From 1829 to 1834 it was the first capital of Greece Independe. Nafplio was torn to the Venetians by the Ottomans in 1540 after a siege lasting three years. Francesco Morosini restored it in 1686.
