Ãâ°vora is the largest Portuguese city of the Alentejo region and capital of the district of the same name. It is home to the second-oldest university only to that of Coimbra, having been founded in 1559. For the large presence of architectural styles in the most various is considered a museum city and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986.
