The historic region of Messinia (in ancient greek: Μεσσήνη, Messene) was limited to the north by the Neda and the mountains of Arcadia, east from Taygetos, south and west by the Ionian Sea. The modern Greek prefecture of Messinia has a smaller surface of the historical region. Photo taken in Methoni within the fort. In addition to the pink flowers in the foreground you can see the white spiers of a church. The contrast of the two colors makes the picture very impressive.
