Title
Handmade raku pottery cup straight out of the kiln #49437870
Description
A close-up of some pottery dishes made in the Raku style, which entails first drying the pieces and glazing them, then firing them in a kiln, then removing them and placing them in newspaper-filled metal garbage cans to create fire and an oxygen-free environment so that interesting colours and patterns are created from the glaze. Finally, pieces are removed from the cans and dipped in water to cool them.
