This is a Winter picture of the Fire Insurance Patrol Station #5 in Chicago, Illinois. This is one of six surviving stations. The Fire Insurance Patrol was organized in 1871 by businessmen and insurance companies to take over fire scenes from the Fire department. This station was built in 1925 and operated until the patrol was abandoned in 1959. This and the other stations are now the property of the Chicago Fire Department. This picture was taken on February 5, 2015.
