Description
Santiago de Compostela was in 2000 European Capital of Culture. Its fame is due to the fact that for over a millennium, according to Christian tradition, is home of the mortal remains of James the Greater Apostle of Jesus: The mortal remains of the Apostle are kept in the majestic cathedral built over the centuries for this reason is the final stage of the road to Santiago de Compostela. Santiago de Compostela and the path of the same name have been declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. It is also a university with more than 500 years of history.
